More about IOVTCHEV Iordan:
His great career brought him two more medals at the Athens Olympic Games 2004 : silver on rings, bronze on floor.

His gymnastics basics are so impeccable that even at the age of 30 Jordan seems to always keep in form and add new difficult skills to his routines.

The man who taught him the A, B, C of Gymnastics in Plovdiv, Bulgaria?s second biggest city and "Dantcho?s" native place, was the coach Jivko Dobrev. When Dantcho first entered the gym at the age of 7, his dream was to emulate his great hero Stoyan Deltchev, the 1980 Olympic High Bar champion and All-around Bronze medallist, also 1979 European Overall champion.

In Atlanta?96 he missed a medal on his best discipline, the Rings, by only 0.012points, but contributed greatly to the Team?s respectable sixth place. After the Games, he stayed in the USA together with his team-mates Krassimir Dounev (the1996 Olympic Silver medallist on High Bar) and Ivan Ivanov (former European Champion on Floor).

Nevertheless, Jordan has continued competing for Bulgaria- training in solitude in the USA and going back to his native country for training camps before major competitions. At the World Championships in Tianjin?99 he was a step from the Overall title and only a wobble on his last apparatus, the Parallel Bars, left him with the Bronze.

This was only the beginning of further great achievements of Jordan: he won two bronze medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games (Floor and Rings) and one year later, in Ghent? 01, he became World Champion on Floor and Rings and a Bronze medallist in the all-around.

He was the only gymnast in Anaheim 2003 who successfully defended his two World titles from Ghent?01. The way he managed to achieve this, won him even greter respect and admiration. During the All-around Final of the World Championships, he fell on the P.Bars and injured badly his ribs/shoulder. Many people doubted he would be able to go out to the competition floor just a day after the accident. Not only did Jovtchev competed on both events- he defended his titles with style and vigour, without a single hint of the pain he?s been going through.

In the end of 2001 Jordan became a father to his and his wife's Boriana first born son, named after him, Jordan Junior.

Heading towards his fourth Olympic Games in Athens 2004, he is a role model for his class, honesty and consistency.
