|More about CSOLLANY Szilveszter:|
|Szilvester has been appreciated as one of the most brilliant Ring specialists in the world from the early '90, but had to spent long years in the shadow of the Italian Yuri Checki, until he won at last the World Cup Finals in 1997 and 1998, and the European title on Rings in Saint Petersbourg'98.
At the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 he was finally recognized as "The Lord of the Rings":
Best Achievements on Rings: * Olympic Champion in Sydney 2000; Silver medal in Atlanta'96,
6th place in Barcelona 1992. * Three times winner on Rings at the World Cup Finals in Zurich 1997, Sabae 1998 and Glasgow 2000. * Five times World Silver medallist: Paris'92, San Juan'96, Lausanne'97, Tianjin' 99 and Ghent 2001.
About his intention to retire: "Critical date was 1995, when I had the feeling that I cannot accept the role of a second fiddler, who has to applaud the winner. I wanted to have a change in my life. I went to the USA (St. Louis, Missouri), to try myself as a coach and I had success, because I like teaching" (WG Magazine, N37/Oct. 2002) About his victory in Sydney 2000: "The feeling of winning a champions title at an Olympics cannot be compared to anything else. Mainly for me, who had been a runner up for a long time. I was hungry for that victory very much. I wanted the success. I did not believe that anyone could defeat me. I was sleeping and waking up with that feeling".
About his family: "I could not have done it without my wife Szilvia. She was my real support. We have been married for 8 years. She is wonderful wife, mother and friend... It's a great happiness for me to stay at hope. It is a pity that I cannot spend more time with my daughter Szimona (born in 1997). It is a wonderful feeling being a father. She is just like me. She is as stubborn as me..." His older brother Peter has also been a gymnast.
